E.H.M.I.S. Schedules
Emory H. Markle Intermediate School utilizes a modified block schedule within a six-day cycle.
This allows for extended instructional time (73 minutes) within the core curricula of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Students also receive instruction within two exploratory classes (47 minutes) for approximately 30 days each. These thirty days allow for exploration within varied content in the areas of Family Consumer Science, Music, Art, Technology and Engineering, Latin/German, French/Spanish, Computer Applications, Health, and Physical Education. A key piece of our middle school student's instructional day is our COLT period. COLT is a period of instruction (42 minutes) filled with Creative Opportunities for Teaching and Learning. This period provides varied opportunities for previewing content, reviewing skills and concepts, and enriching learning. Students are afforded the opportunity to participate in our band, orchestra, and choral programs during this scheduled time.
